The benefits of registering a trademark or design are many, the Ideas Powered for Business Fund was established to financially help small and medium-sized enterprises in the EU use these intellectual property tools.

The SME Fund is a European Commission initiative implemented by EUIPO and will run from January 23, 2023 to December 8, 2023.
Through the registration of a trademark or design pattern, an exclusive right to the use of the trademark or the aesthetics of a particular product is obtained, prohibiting its unauthorized use by third parties.
The total amount made available by the European Commission to reimburse the costs of registering trademarks and designs in Italy or Europe is 25 million euros. Beware though… First come, first served! Funds are limited and will be allocated in chronological order to those who apply first.
If you are a small or medium-sized business and have been thinking of registering a trademark or design on the Italian territory, on the European territory or extend your registration internationally (extra-EU): now is the right time!
Through this fund, SMEs will be able to benefit from a 75 percent refund of basic fees for trademark and design registrations applications filed online at the EUIPO itself or at member state offices, such as, for example, the UIBM for Italy. The fund also encourages trademark and design protection for European SMEs outside the territory of the European Union by establishing a 50 percent reimbursement for fees related to international applications filed with the WIPO international office.
The reimbursement can reach a maximum of €1,000 per company.
Il Fondo per le PMI è un programma di rimborso che emette voucher utilizzabili in parte per coprire in parte le tasse relative alle attività selezionate. A seconda dell’attività da svolgere, sono disponibili diversi tipi di voucher.
I voucher coprono solo le attività che devono essere ancora svolte. Pertanto, se hai già registrato il tuo marchio oppure disegno/modello non potrai godere del rimborso. Al contrario, se intendi registrare nuovi marchi o disegni/modelli o estendere quelli già registrati, non puoi farti scappare questo rimborso. L’erogazione del voucher e l’ottenimento del rimborso vengono concessi attraverso la seguente procedura.
FASE 1 – Presentazione della domanda di sovvenzione: entra su SME Fund registrati ed effettua il login. Prepara i documenti (certificato di partita iva, estratto conto bancario della società, dichiarazione firmata dalla PMI) e completa la registrazione. A questo punto, compila e invia il modulo di domanda per richiedere il voucher.
FASE 2 – Ricevi la concessione della sovvenzione e i voucher: una volta presentata la domanda, riceverai risposta entro 15 giorni lavorativi. Se la tua domanda sarà stata approvata (il controllo effettuato sarà solamente formale), riceverai una notifica di concessione della sovvenzione e i tuoi voucher. Ricorda che i voucher hanno una validità di due mesi prorogabili per altri due mesi. Se hai bisogno di una proroga, è facile… puoi richiederla direttamente tramite il tuo account durante il secondo mese dalla concessione.
FASE 3 – Richiedi le attività di proprietà intellettuale e paga l’importo corrispondente: durante questo periodo puoi richiedere e pagare le attività per la tutela della proprietà intellettuale relative ai voucher concessi e poi richiedere il relativo rimborso, attivando così i tuoi voucher. Tutte le attività per cui è possibile ottenere il rimborso delle tasse possono essere svolte dallo Studio legale Canella Camaiora, in qualità di tuo rappresentante/mandatario.
FASE 4 – Ottieni il rimborso: Dopo aver chiesto le attività e pagato l’importo corrispondente, è necessario compilare e inviare il modulo di rimborso. Questo adempimento attiverà il voucher e il rimborso avverrà entro 1 mese sul conto corrente indicato, pervia verifica delle informazioni e della documentazione trasmessa.

The SME Fund is a reimbursement program that issues vouchers that can be used to partially cover fees related to selected activities. Depending on the activity to be carried out, different types of vouchers are available.
Vouchers only cover activities that have yet to be carried out. Therefore, if you have already registered your trademark or design/model, you will not be eligible for reimbursement. Conversely, if you intend to register new trademarks or designs/models or extend those already registered, you cannot miss this reimbursement. Voucher disbursement and obtaining reimbursement are granted through the following procedure.
STEP 1 – Submitting the grant application: enter SME Fund register and log in. Prepare the documents (vat number certificate, company bank statement, signed SME statement) and complete the registration. Now, fill out and submit the application form to apply for the voucher.
STEP 2 – Receive the grant award and vouchers: once you submit your application, you will receive a response within 15 working days. If your application has been approved (the check made will only be formal), you will receive notification of the grant award and your vouchers. Remember that vouchers are valid for two months that can be extended for another two months. If you need an extension, it’s easy–you can request it directly through your account during the second month after the grant.
STEP 3 – Apply for IP activities and pay the corresponding amount: during this period you can apply for and pay for IP activities related to the vouchers granted and then apply for the corresponding reimbursement, thus activating your vouchers. All activities for which you can obtain fee reimbursement can be carried out by Canella Camaiora Law Firm, as your representative/mandate.
STEP 4 – Get your refund: After you have claimed the activities and paid the corresponding amount, you must complete and submit the refund form. This fulfillment will activate the voucher and reimbursement will take place within 1 month to the bank account indicated, pervia verification of the information and documentation submitted.
